A bit of catchup

So what's Gregory been watching lately? Here's a quick rundown.

  • Noir - Of the shows I've watched fansubs of, this is definitely one of my favorite. I was so happy when I saw that it had been picked up. Even though I've cut down my DVD buying for the moment this is one that I made sure to pick up the first disc of (so that I could get the box for the set). ADV has done a wonderful job with this. It really shows how amazing DVD can be.

  • UFO Princess Valkyrie - What to say about this show. It's kind of random, not too original, has quite a bit of fanservice. Oh yeah, and it has catgirls (and a gun that turns girls into catgirls). I'm really not sure why I like this show, but I do. Maybe it's a bit of wanting some light mindless fun after watching more serious things like Noir and Wolf's Rain. The theme song also kicks ass. Fun to check out if you want to let your mind take a vacation.

  • Kiddy Grade - A show I'm sure people are sick of me gushing about. This show just continues to keep me on the edge of my seat. I just took in episodes 17 and 18 and want more. We seem to be into the home stretch now storywise. But I have the feeling it's still going to be quite the rollercoaster ride for the rest of the show. The hardest thing to do is get people to sit down and get through the first few episodes. Maybe I'll see if I can get my friend Chris to download and watch this one.

  • Wolf's Rain - Only up to episode 6 on this one. I'm still liking this a lot. This is a show that seems to be really about character development. Though, I will agree with Lyn that this show is just oh so gay.

That's it for now. Stay tuned for next time when I talk about Naruto, Mahou Tsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto, .hack//legends, and Stratos 4.

Well I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks the show kinda screams "BAD YAOI FANFICTION MATERIAL" from time to time. It's still fantastic, of course. XD

I am actually VERY surprised nobody has licensed Kiddy Grade yet. Especially when things like Licensed by Royal have been (I haven't watched yet, but I've heard it isn't that impressive). There's actually a few shows that I'm surprised haven't been picked up yet. Esp after considering how quickly some of the shows coming out now on DVD were.

well, it is only march 3, though granted i was hearing new liscencing announcements in early february. still, there are many months and many more cons to go for manymanymany more anime series to be announced as liscenced.

some i think are pretty much a given are Kiddy Grade, Haibane Renmei, Witch Hunter Robin, Wolf's Rain, Komugi-chan.

along with all the good new stuff, i'd like to see some older anime titles liscenced, too. there are many an anime classic i would kill to have on r1 dvd:
Rose of Versailles, Nurse Angel Ririka, Akazukin Cha Cha, Conan (the miyazaki classic), though i wouldn't mind seeing Meitante Conan liscenced ^^
