Narutaru First Impressions

In the past week or so I've watched the first two episodes of Narutaru. I really didn't know too much about this show to start out. There'd been a blurb in NewType USA about it, and that was it. But I seen to remember it sounded interesting enough to pick up an episode or two. For now I'm hooked. It's about this girl named Tamai Shiina who meets this weird star shaped creature during her summer vacation and it becomes friends with her and comes home with her. The show is fairly cute, but with the introduction of one of the characters in the second episode the show definitely shows a bit of depth and that it isn't afraid to be a little dark here and there.

Supposedly, this is based on a popular manga, so I'll have to see what I can dig up about that. I definitely think this one is worth giving a look see.

actually, the manga has been published in France a few years ago. until, after 3 issues, the publisher realized it was definitely not something for kids. i don't know they will handle this in the anime. guess they will skip the hard stuff.

Hard to say. They showed a girl holding a straight edge razor to her wrist looking like she was pretty close to cutting herself. But having read this about the manga I'm even more curious about seeing it.

Thanks for the information and the kind compliments!

I'm going to have to check that out now. I wonder if that means they'll put it into GN format.

Oh yes it does! There are (checks shelf) four volumes out now, maybe five.

Wait until you see Narutaru ep 3. :D The story gets even darker (and I think that there's some censorship in the form of shadowing-over parts of the screen in aq fight at the end. It's being broadcast on a kids channel in Japan after all). The show just keeps getting better.

The Narutaru (Shadow Star) manga may be in danger of stopping here in the U.S. as well. I hope they continue to publish it though. Here's a link to the Fan Feedback section at Studio Proteus (the translation group).

I've seen 2 volumes of the Shadow Star manga, and so far the first 3 eps of the anime. The good thing is that they're the same, and except for that kid killing the people on the plane, nothing has been left out. I think this is the part where it gets really interesting because the government gets in it, so I hope I get to see more! lol, the anime had about every single dramatic image from the manga too, it was kind of interesting to see it animated.

btw, this anime blog is a very cool idea
