Searching hi and low
Google and other search engines are getting criticism for possibly crawling too deep into other people's sites. Google now lets you search for other file types beyond just web pages. I personally think this is pretty slick.
The problem is that people are searching for things like password files, and finding them via Google. Google is being partly blamed because they weren't thinking about security. I'm sorry but that's just plain silly. If you put things like unprotected password files on your web site and just hope people won't stumble upon them you are asking for trouble. Don't people remember that security through obscurity is a bad idea?
