Blog Awards
I'm fairly uncertain what I think of a lot of these different blog awards things that have been going on. Most recently is the 2002 Bloggies. Some random thoughts about this one:
- Congrats to Evan Williams for the livetime achievement award.
- Congrats to Wil Wheaton for the weblog of the year. (On a side note I realized that one of my favorite sites ever was last years winner.)
- As much as I like Blogger, I could never say that it was the best weblog directory or update monitor. It only has like the last 10 recently updated or created blogs. As far as update monitors go, weblogs.com is much better. I still haven't found a good weblog directory, anyone got any to recommend?
In general I thought they were okay (though I thought life uncommon should have won its category). In some cases I feel like it had the same problem that many of these awards do, they tend to end up focused on some random subsets of all the blogs I read (though this gets into another topic about weblogs that I'll write about later).
