Random World of Warcraft Stuff

Been a nice day for World of Warcraft. We got a new patch today with much goodness. Blizzard finally relented and put up two Role Play-Player vs Player servers. People have been asking for these forever and Blizzard had made it sound like it wasn't going to happen. On the downside, they only put up two servers and the wait for them was an hour last time I looked. I recreated my original RP character over on Emerald Dream and will be playing a bit there also. Look for Parfait if you go there.

And last but not least. A link Kynn paged me with about the perils of cybersex on World of Warcraft that made me laugh out loud.

Blizzard has already made noise about allowing people :

(a) to transfer from PVP and/or RP servers to the RP-PVP servers as a normal transfer, as well as (much more importantly)
(b) to offer a for-pay "transfer me from server X to server Y" service

Rather than re-creating your character, it might be worth waiting for either of those to happen and then just transfer your character over and rebalance your talents for the new world. :-)

Yeah, they'd talked about transferring before.

I actually want to play through even the early parts again. I mean, Stranglethorn Vale is going to be sick, esp if people are actually roleplaying. So far while on Emerald Dream people have been pretty good about stuff, at least in the gnome areas.

I think for a TRULY RP/PVP server, though, they need to enable inter-faction communication.

I know it raises some other issues, but that's my $0.02 worth.

Actually, there's a bunch of inter-faction things I'd want to see. One would be the ability to form temporary alliances, and quests that might require two enemies to work together for something.

Of course, with language I want to see the language system used more. Like, I could learn troll as a human, but I'd never be able to get it up to 300, maybe a max of 250. So that there'd be times when trying to communicate the wrong word would get slipped in someplace. There are so many little things I think they could do like this (OF course I'm sure their todo list is like 5 miles long at this point).
